The Phog is a civic canopy designed for the public space adjacent to Allen Fieldhouse, conceived to span the full dimensions of a basketball court while maintaining openness and visual permeability. The structure employs branching columns and a continuous overhead lattice to provide shade, shelter, and spatial definition within a highly visible campus setting. Named in reference to KU’s iconic “Phog” and the canopy’s fog-like presence, the project explores large-span structure, repetition, and architectural identity through form and atmosphere.
